NEPSE index declined by 12.83 points to close at 2,620.92 on the first day of the New Year with a turnover of Rs 4.713 billion and over 100 million shares traded. Wean Nepal Microfinance rose 10% hitting a positive circuit; SY Panel had the highest turnover at Rs 234.1 million.

NEPSE index rose 2.22% in fiscal year 2025, closing at 2,633.76, with Himalayan Reinsurance Limited leading turnover and Swastik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited as top gainer with 605.64% increase.

Analysts warn that the NEPSE index's high valuation driven by liquidity masks structural fragility and risks a market bubble. Concerns include disconnect between market gains and corporate earnings, rising non-performing bank loans, and regulatory shortcomings.

NEPSE index gained 10.87 points (0.41%) to close at 2,633.76 with Green Ventures Limited leading turnover at Rs 17.79 crores. Manufacturing and Processing sector had the highest gain at 1.61%, while Life Insurance had the least at 0.06%.

Nepal Stock Exchange rose by 47.55 points (1.83%) to 2,633.42, led by a 2.7% gain in the finance sector with all sectors closing positive. Market activity included trading of 13.47 million shares over 328 companies with a turnover of Rs 5.53 billion.
