Garima Chaudhary Case

The Government of Nepal and Garima Chaudhary’s family reached a three-point agreement at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Kathmandu. The deal includes a review of punishment provisions for heinous crimes, a planned statue in her memory, and funeral rites according to family customs.

An Independent Citizens' Group staged another protest at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu calling for justice, an impartial probe, and disclosure of the truth in the Garima Chaudhary case. The demonstration added pressure as negotiations with the family were ongoing.

The victim’s parents rejected a five-point agreement reached by local authorities and refused to claim her body, saying they had not been included in the talks. Protests and the road blockade continued in Simara as the investigation faced criticism over the initial response.

Residents in Jitpur Simara blocked the Pathlaiya-Birgunj road for a second day after a three-year-old girl was found dead in an abandoned house. Police said they had detained a minor and a 24-year-old van owner in connection with the case.
